About

About the Gallery & Studio:
Elemental Gallery and Studio is a great place to come and experience art. We have a wide variety of art which includes sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts, collage, as well as traditional and contemporary art expressions. Our goal is to make art accessible to everyone. We do this by bringing people together with artists and help them learn about the creative process through special events, exhibits and educational programs.

Opening in September, we are partnering with the Riverside Arts Market Art Gallery to display, sell, receive and store the RAM Art Gallery squares.

About the owner:

I’ve always been involved with art. I remember visiting Charlie Brown’s pottery studio and Memphis Wood at her house/studio (and silently begging for cookies) with mom as a child. By the age of 13 I knew I wanted to go to school for graphic design and was fascinated by the Pratt Institute’s college catalogue which was a deck of cards with art on one side and information about the school or department on the other. Instead, I chose to go to Parson’s School of Design and later transferred to Florida State University, where I got my first taste in creating jewelry.

I’ve always kept a foot in the fine arts, taking workshops from Louise Freshman Brown. A few years ago I got into jewelry again using precious metal clay – kiln firing clay infused with silver to create fine silver jewelry. With a kiln handy, that naturally led into experimenting with glass and a class from renowned glass artist Newy Fagan.

I found my medium: combining the clean, structured qualities of graphic design with the free expressiveness of fine arts. With enamels I can draw and shade glass, as well as make purely geometric designs.

I owe a big thank you to Newy Fagan for instructing me, Dee and Julia for investing in me, and, of course, Donald and Maggie for everything.
